Guidelines for Service Providers on Sexual Health Work with South Asian Communities
A set of four Guidelines which address the sexual health promotion and service issues relating to the Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sikh and Hindu communities in Birmingham.The guidelines are intended to assist health professionals, statutory, voluntary and independently funded organisations to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services and education on sexual health issues to the South Asian Communities in Birmingham.
They are also intended to raise the awareness of service providers about the religious, cultural and social norms of some of the key communities in the city and what effects these factors can have on health. These documents attempt to provide information and answer some of the more common questions regarding the development of sexual health services within the ethos of the communities’ religion and culture.
